Ray Kellam

Ray Kellam grew up in Menlo Park, playing sports on the same fields he trains his boys on today. A passion for soccer was always at the fore front of his playing career, but his athletic excellence pulled him in many directions. Ray ran Varsity Track as a freshman running on the 4×100 squad. Speed was his best athletic asset and he brings that element to his session and team play. He chose to play football & baseball at Menlo Atherton. Ray started in Center field and batted leadoff both junior and senior year. He played tailback for the M-A Bears Varsity Football. He also excelled in ice hockey and played collegiately at SJSU where he had his jersey retired. Ray coached hockey for over ten years. Ray finished second in the USA in 2010-11 as his Bantam AA team lost in the national championship final.
Ray’s diverse sports and coaching background landed him as the perfect fit for Alpine. Holding his NSCAA National Diploma license and coaching with Alpine for the last 6 seasons, Ray has found his niche, coaching soccer, developing young men and has excelled with his teams. His diverse style, unique creative ideas combined with explosive energy, & exceptional communication skills make him one of our top coaches.
Last season (2016) Ray won the Club’s PCA Double Goal Coach Award, was awarded as a Bay Area winner and National Finalist.
