Chris played multiple sports growing up – soccer, basketball, football and baseball – choosing to focus on soccer when he was in high school. He played forward and midfield on the U16 national team, and as a high school player won state titles in 3 different states! He played on the DeAnza College soccer team which won a state championship in 1994, and in 1996 he played on the San Jose Clash reserve team in the inaugural year of MLS.
Chris has been coaching soccer since 1996. He was a co-founder of MP Strikers in 2001 and has been coaching in the club since then. In addition to coaching with the Strikers, Chris was the director of coaching at Go-4-Gold Soccer School for 7 years. Chris’s coaching credentials include a National Diploma (NCSAA) and he is a PCA-certified Double Goal Coach. Chris’s most successful team was his MP Strikers 93B team, which Chris coached from U8 through U19. This team played in the U16 State Cup Finals and produced several Division 1 and Division 2 college soccer players.
My focus is on both player and team development. I like to play aggressive, attacking style soccer with an emphasis on possession and winning the ball back with a defensive high press. I provide a lot of positive reinforcement for my players, as I find players react much better to positive feedback than a ‘don’t do this’ style of coaching.
